What to Include in Your Wedding Invitations

TIP: Adding all the details makes all the difference.

Most people don’t realize it but the first impression your guests will have of you and your wedding is through the invitation. That little envelope they receive in the mail sets the tone for everything yet to come. An extremely formal invitation give the impression of a black tie event. A handmade scrapbook-like invite says it’s a fun backyard get together. You don’t have to spend a lot to get your message across, just take your choices into consideration because it will affect the way people come dressed and even the way they behave.

Ceremony and reception details

You of course need to tell everyone Flower and Invitationwhen it is (date and times) and where the ceremony and reception are being held. Make sure to list the full address so people can look it up on their own if they want to.

Directions

Provide a small map or other form of directions to help your guests find your wedding site and reception. This is especially important if your venue is somewhere less common or hard to find.

RSVP card

Include a card for your guests to respond on as to whether they will attending or not. You can also list an email or phone number for correspondence if you wish but the RSVP card with addressed envelope is traditional.

Registry information

Although tradition and etiquette books tell you not to, include a small slip with your registry information so guests know where to find your lists should they want to purchase a gift.

List of accommodations

Many weddings go late and involve large amounts of alcohol. Thus lots of people want to stay at or near the reception site. Provide a list of local hotels or places to stay that guests can check into if they desire.
