So, How Much Do Pictures Cost, Anyway?
Photographers Base Fees on Experience + Talent + Overhead
As a rule of thumb, there is very little rhyme or reason as
to how much the photography will cost for an average
wedding. It is predicated on factors such as geographical
area, how much skill and value the photographer has
established, how many features will be purchased with the
package, and whether or not they are shooting digital.
These days, most photographers are shooting digital instead
of film.
When choosing a photographer, you are paying for their
respective experience, style, reputation, overhead and
materials. A photographer who works full-time in this craft
will likely be more expensive than a weekender. However,
the results will likely be better from the full-timer.
A full-time photographer has the experience to contend with
these newbies, who seemingly come out of the woodwork every
day. Nowadays, anyone with a digital camera thinks they can
be a professional photographer. There is certain glamour
about the job, albeit overrated. Sure, its fun to get paid
to attend someones wedding and to partake in a fun day of
festivities and happiness. On the other hand, taking the
pictures is actually the easiest part of the task.
Behind the scenes, it is not so glamorous. Running a
photography studio is painstakingly hard work. THere's a
ton of paperwork, editing of photos, assembly of albums,
marketing, networking, and countless activities as with any
business.
