Marry the Photographer Make the Commitment
What do I do once Ive asked all of the questions?
By now you've probably spent a good deal of time with the
photographer. His time is money, the same as yours. Realize
that in the long run someone has to pay for the hours each
photographer spends as a consultant. Keep his (and your)
expenses to a minimum by going to the meeting with the
photographer prepared to leave a deposit to confirm the
date. Before you do, however, you may want to assure
yourself of a few more last-minute details.
Find out the photographer's policy if the date of your
wedding is changed and he/she's not available on the
alternate date. Find out, too, what the policy is for an
unforeseen cancellation of the date. How much, if any of
your deposit will be returned? At this stage of the game,
if you've really taken the time to get into some of the
above questions, you HAVE to know whether or not this
photographer is for you.
Be Prepared to Make a Commitment!
Hire the photographer, and reiterate the date of the wedding
often. Likely, the photographer will have consultations with
you prior to the wedding to discuss the events and the
timeline of the day. Be very specific; do not leave anything
up in the air. They will need to know exactly where to be
and when, and if there is a surprise or a special event
planned.
If the photographer IS for you, if the photographer IS
available, and if you're convinced that it's worth the
price...then make the commitment and rest assured that this
is undoubtedly one of the best and most intelligent
decisions you've made in planning your wedding! Then, you
can move on to the other next important things, like
choosing your gown, attendants, etc. You still have plenty
to do. Always Check in to Ensure Your Plans Remain Stable!
In the golden rule of wedding planning, don't forget.
Confirm, confirm, confirm!
Your wedding is more important to you and your fianc than to
anyone else. Just like Santa Claus, you want to make a list
and check it twice! Double-check appointments, plans,
times, reservations, etc. Even after signing a contract,
you'll want to poke your head in (even over the phone) a
couple of times before your Big Day approaches, just to make
sure everybody is on the same page.
